Bare Root Policy
Bare root trees are living organisms and as such, they can perish for many different reasons. You will have until June 30th to assess if your tree is viable and to make any claims. Failure to produce leaves or buds on the tree is not a sufficient determination if the tree is alive and/or viable as some bare root trees spend a growing season reestablishing their root system before producing leaves. Only the results of a scratch test will be accepted as a determination of loss. To perform a scratch test use your thumbnail or a knife and gently scrape a small part of the outer gray-brown bark from a twig or branch. Directly inside the outer bark on healthy trees/shrubs you’ll find a nice green layer, called the cambium. If you continue scratching away the thin green layer, you’ll see the whitish inner wood. The presence of the green layer indicates life in the tree. To make a claim, please photograph the results of the scratch test (per tree) and email to info@plantmegreen.com. If we agree with your assessment a 50% credit of the purchase price of each tree will be credited to your account to be used the following bare root season. Shipping costs will be the responsibility of the customer and determined by the carrier.
As with all living plants, each requires care and proper nutrients to acclimate to their new environments. Time and your patience are also essential needs for plants to successfully transition to their new surroundings. Neglect, poor watering schedules, or purchasing a plant outside the recommended growing zone are not included with this guarantee. The customer is responsible for choosing a plant suitable for the climate in which it will be grown and following the planting guidelines that are outlined in the Plant Me Green brochure which is included in each shipment and/or can be found on our website. Plants purchased outside the recommended USDA growing zone are not covered by any replacement policy. Zones are posted on each product page. The customer is also responsible for requesting any delayed ship date if they do not want to receive at time of purchase due to winter weather. Standard procedure is to ship your order as quickly as possible and will ship within the specified time frame UNLESS noted by the customer. Please call 1-855-817-5268 or email info@plantmegreen.com us make arrangements to delay your order.
Damaged During Shipment
Plant Me Green uses the highest quality packaging materials available to ensure your plant arrives safe and healthy. It is extremely rare that packages are broken or damaged in transit. If your order is damaged during shipping, we need to be contacted within 48 hours of you receiving the damaged package. We will do our best to correct the issue. Broken branches are cosmetic and should be pruned; a scratch test will need to be done to ensure viability.
Please DO NOT proceed with planting if you are concerned with its condition upon receipt. We need to know immediately, otherwise the plant’s viability will fall out of our control and responsibility. If you proceed with planting a “poor” or “damaged” plant and contact us weeks later, we will follow our terms of service and guarantee policies.
In order to make a claim, we will need picture documentation. We ask that you take at least 1 picture of the damaged box on the outside and at least 2 pictures of the damaged plant on the inside. Please send the pictures to info@plantmegreen.com. Once we receive the pictures, we can make an assessment of the damage.
Cancelling an Order
Any order placed with Plant Me Green may be cancelled prior to shipping from our warehouse. Once the plant is shipped, all sales are final; there are no refunds.
Returns
Since plants are perishable, we do not accept returns under any condition. All sales are final.
Dormant or Dead?
During the late fall through the early spring months, deciduous trees/shrubs (most nut, fruit, flowering, and shade trees) will drop their leaves and go dormant, making them appear as though they are “are a stick.” These plants are entirely healthy and are completing a vital part in their growth cycle but may exhibit browning leaves, sparse leaves, or no leaves at all. Planting during dormancy puts less stress on the plant and allows the plant to focus on root growth, giving it a head start in the spring. If you receive a plant during this time and would like to ensure the plant is in fact dormant, simply perform a scratch test on the tree. The presence of the green layer indicates life in the plant. Plant Me Green will not accept any claims of death loss until the plant is given adequate time to come out of dormancy.
Bare root material can ONLY be shipped when it is dormant. We take great care to protect these trees during this vulnerable time and we may even purposefully keep the trees dormant longer in the spring. Upon receipt of your bare root trees, it is always best practice to perform a scratch test prior to planting. Failure to produce leaves or buds on the tree is not a sufficient determination if the tree is alive and/or viable as some bare root trees spend a growing season reestablishing their root system before producing leaves. To make a claim or if you need assistance in determining the results of your scratch test, please photograph the results of the scratch test (per tree) and email to info@plantmegreen.com.
